Spinach gratin is a delicious and nutritious oven-baked dish that combines sautéed spinach with a creamy béchamel sauce, topped with melted cheese. Perfect as a side dish or a light main meal, this recipe is ideal for those who want to enjoy the goodness of leafy greens in a cheesy, comforting form. Whether you’re cooking for family or guests, spinach gratin adds a flavorful and elegant touch to any table.

Ingredients
For the spinach mixture:
500 grams of spinach (cleaned)
1 onion (chopped)
1/2 tea glass vegetable oil
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
For the béchamel sauce:
3.5 cups milk
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter
For the topping:
200 grams grated mozzarella or cheddar cheese
Instructions
Wash and drain the spinach thoroughly. Chop the onion and sauté it in a pan with a tablespoon of vegetable oil until translucent.
Add the spinach to the pan and sauté lightly until just wilted. Don’t overcook. Remove from heat and let cool.
In a separate saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the flour. Cook for 1–2 minutes until the flour loses its raw smell.
Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Add salt and pepper, and stir until the sauce thickens.
Pour the béchamel sauce over the spinach mixture and combine well.
Transfer everything to a baking dish, sprinkle grated cheese evenly on top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
Let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
This spinach gratin is a creamy, cheesy, and hearty dish that brings comfort to your plate. It’s perfect for lunch, dinner, or even as a holiday side. Serve it warm and enjoy the irresistible blend of flavors.
